To the members of the Norwegian Nobel Committee,
We, citizens of the free world and signatories to this campaign commend Donald John Trump to the Norwegian Nobel Committee for the Peace Prize.
Mr. Trump’s pressure on NATO members to make greater contributions to the collective defense of Europe, though contested at the time, served to rejuvenate the alliance. This process has materially benefitted the ability of European members to support the defense of Ukraine. While his negotiating stance was aggressive, his use of violence was not. He stewarded the most peaceful period in recent history, with no new foreign wars, and with a focus on building strength and leveraging it in negotiations.
This approach helped the United States and NATO secure peace and project democratic power in three key ways. First, the cautious approach to intervention saw an emphasis on targeted strikes with low risk of escalation and prolonged destabilization. The strikes on General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, and the use of economic sanctions, allowed the US to have a reduced ground presence, showing trust and giving space to local partners and communities to take a greater role in their peace and security. He oversaw the strategic defeat of ISIS The collapse of the authoritarian regime in Syria is directly related to this foreign policy doctrine.
Second, this space allowed for de-escalation and reconciliation. Mr. Trump secured the release of dozens of American citizens detained in hostile nations. Trump’s balance of strength, persistence and willingness to negotiate saw an unprecedented thawing of relations in North Korea, with three summits leading to the first ever pause in missile testing secured, and a framework to resolve tensions through dialogue left in place. In the Balkans, the economic normalization agreement between Serbia and Kosovo in 2020 sees the two communities at last creating trade, energy and transportation links that sows the seeds of a lasting rehabilitation of relations.
Third, a more restrained and considered U.S. foreign policy created the platform to speak with authority on issues of peace, rights and morality. He is the foremost global leader advocating for the release of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan in the name of democracy and freedom. He was the first leader to formally recognize China’s persecution of Uyghurs as a genocide and exemplified a moral courage and leadership in confronting human rights abuses for which, as yet, he has not received credit.
Recognizing Donald John Trump with the Nobel Peace Prize would affirm these significant contributions for peace, security and global stability. It would affirm that the free world cherishes victories for freedom, human rights and democracy. It would affirm, ahead of a second Presidency, that Mr. Trump’s actions and successes for peace are appreciated and fairly judged.
Yours sincerely,
Nobel For Trump
